Basement Records

As President of Basement Records, I revitalized the organization through visual branding, program development, and digital engagement strategies that strengthened our campus presence.

Visual Identity & Branding:

As President of Basement Records, I revitalized the organization's visual identity by designing the club's official logo and creating branded merchandise that strengthened our campus presence. I also established and designed the logo for From the Attic, our subgroup dedicated to fostering creative collaboration while managing our social media presence and newsletter campaigns to maintain consistent branding across all platforms.

Workshop Development:

Our comprehensive workshop series focused on developing technical and artistic skills while leveraging campus resources. Through sessions in Logic Pro X and advanced mixing/mastering, members gained hands-on experience with industry-standard production tools. Photography and videography workshops expanded our creative scope, while collaborations with SIMS and the MakerLab introduced members to valuable campus resources. By identifying and nurturing team members' individual strengths, we created a leadership pipeline where passionate members could share their expertise through specialized workshops.

The Finale:

Our flagship event, The Finale, exemplified our commitment to community building and artistic collaboration. This student-led concert brought together Brandeis musicians, alumni performers, Waltham local artists, and talent from neighboring campuses, creating a dynamic platform for networking and creative exchange. The event successfully bridged the gap between campus and local music scenes, fostering meaningful connections within the greater Boston area music community.

50th Anniversary of Hip Hop:

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop, we curated a multifaceted celebration featuring Kaz Supernova's film, "Wortown Rising —The Untold Story of the First Hip-Hop Music Scene in Worcester, MA," Leading up to the screening, we organized paint nights where members recreated iconic hip-hop album covers, which were then showcased during the premiere, creating an immersive experience that honored both the visual and musical elements of hip-hop culture.

Campus Collaborations:

Through strategic partnerships, we amplified our impact across campus. Our collaboration with the Campus Activities Board (CAB) led to the creation of "Brandeis Got Talent," a competition that offered student performers the opportunity to open at Springfest, Brandeis' iconic spring concert known for featuring major artists like Kendrick Lamar. We established a strong partnership with WBRS, Brandeis' student radio station, creating pathways for student artists to have their music played on air and participate in radio interviews, while also collaborating on concert planning initiatives. Additionally, we fostered relationships with student media, partnering with both "The Hoot" and "The Justice," Brandeis' student-run newspapers, to spotlight student artists and their creative works, giving our members valuable exposure through featured articles and interviews in these widely-read campus publications.

Industry Connections & Opportunities:

Our professional development initiatives reached new heights through workshops featuring Jimmy Kang, CEO of Str8up Entertainment Group INC and vice president of Wu-Tang Management, who brought 20 years of music industry expertise to our members. During his visit, Jimmy Kang presented Brandeis students with the opportunity to pursue a Sony Orchard Distribution deal, opening doors to professional music distribution channels. The workshop series also included accomplished professionals like Rigo Molina, David "Dizzy Dizasta," James Cappra, Big Nate Allstar (known for performing with Wu-Tang Clan's Cappadonna), and Assassin, who shared their diverse experiences in music production, lyricism, and graphic design, providing our members with comprehensive insights into various aspects of the music industry.
