Community Engagement Ambassadors Program
Each year, four undergraduate students with strong leadership skills and a demonstrated commitment to community engagement are selected by the Department of Student Engagement to serve in the Community Engagement Ambassador Program.
As a Community Engagement Ambassador for the Department of Student Engagement from 2023-2024, I contributed to a pivotal transitional period for the program, helping to redefine its vision, structure, and branding while honoring the legacy of Dr. Lori Levinson Luft '69.
Key Contributions:
Branding & Visual Identity Development
I created the official CEAP logo and developed comprehensive branding materials including t-shirts, stickers, and table cloth designs. These visual elements established a cohesive identity for the program during its transition period and increased visibility across campus.
Program Restructuring
Working collaboratively with fellow ambassadors, I helped reimagine the CEAP structure to be more inclusive and responsive to diverse student needs. Our cohort identified gaps in the existing framework and implemented strategic changes to enhance accessibility and impact.
Leadership Development
As part of our cohort's focus on strengthening the program's foundation, I participated in the selection committee for the new Associate Director of Community Engagement and Leadership, ensuring student perspectives were represented in this crucial hiring decision.
Initiative Areas
Within our ambassador team, we each focused on different priority areas while supporting the overall mission. My contributions spanned across several core domains:
DEI Advancement: Integrating inclusive practices into volunteer recruitment and training
Volunteer Support: Developing resources to prepare students for meaningful community engagement
Service Advocacy: Connecting service work to broader advocacy efforts and social justice frameworks
Community Partnerships: Strengthening relationships with local organizations to create sustainable impact
Collaborative Programming
Our cohort worked together to coordinate campus-wide events that mobilized the Brandeis community toward service and engagement. These collaborative efforts helped establish new traditions while reinvigorating long-standing service commitments.
This role provided me with invaluable experience in organizational development, strategic planning, and collaborative leadership during a period of transition. By contributing to the program's evolution, I gained practical skills in change management while advancing Brandeis's commitment to community engagement and social justice.
